The event has ended! A big thank you to everyone who signed up and participated in this event! We're all very pleased with how much interest everyone has shown, and we're super stoked to get these babes out and about in the community!
This was a test-run for us for this type of event, and we've learned a lot (through trial-and-error) and hopefully the next time this event comes around it'll be a bit more organized. If you have any more questions or concerns about the event, feel free to note myself or any of the other admins!

 If it is apparent that you did not read the entire journal, you will be skipped.


Admins will begin selecting pairs on February 5th, so please have your applications submitted before then. There is no guarantee that slots will remain after that day, though if you see slots open, you may still continue to submit applications.


Here you will have the opportunity to apply for a grem splicing service, which will use the DNA of two existing grems to create a modified “offspring”. These spliced grems will have a tougher genetic makeup, and will be able to survive outside the incubation tank earlier in development than a normal grem, emerging precocial as young as 5-7  years, compared to the standard 10-11. Unfortunately, they suffer significantly shortened lifespans as a side-effect, only living to be approximately 50 (normally 70).

Spliced grems are $100 each for this event, and up to 2 can be obtained from a single pair (limit 1 per person). They are “soulbound” to the “parent” grems (in the case of 2 being purchased, the paired buyers will decide which splice is bound to which parent), meaning that the spliced grem must remain with its bound parent. If one is traded or sold, the other must be traded/sold with it.

Admins will select splicing pairs that they feel will work best and reply to comments offering their service and providing the estimated genetics template (what you can expect from your splice). You may then choose to accept the service, at which point payment will be made and your splice will be created. Each admin will be accepting 2 slots/pairs of up to 2 splices each. Each admin will now be selecting up to 4 individual splices each. There were a larger number of single-splice applications than anticipated, so we have made slight changes to the slot format to compensate.


Cypherus grems, Growls, and Sibgrems will not be able to participate in the splicing event.



Which traits, mutations or breeds are carried over will be determined in varying methods, shown below.

-Both of a same trait makes it dominant (ex. Common+common= dominant, or Uncommon +uncommon= dominant trait, or rare+rare= Dominant trait)
-Two different traits can be mixed or left to chance (randomizer)
-Mutation is purely left to chance, you could get either one, the other, or both based on the chance you get (randomizer)
-Hybrids + hybrids = hybrid (has to be with same hybrid species)
-Hybrid + normal = normal

An on-base “baby” image
An off-base unique adult image
These will be completed before the end of February

Additional Info:


-If using 2 of your own grems, you may only purchase 1 splice. You must choose which of your grems it will be bound to. This cannot be changed later.

-If using 1 of your own grems and 1 of someone else’s, both owners have the option of purchasing a splice ($100 each). One splice will be bound to each parent, to be decided by the buyers. Optionally, you may simply use the other person’s grem (with their permission) and only purchase a single splice for yourself. The other owner is not required to participate.

-If using a grem that is not your own, you must have the owner confirm that they have consented to their grem being used. Tag them in the application and request that they reply with confirmation. We cannot proceed with the service until we have consent from both owners.

-You may submit more than 1 application. Many people will have more than just one pair to propose, and you may fill out an application for as many individual match-ups as you wish. You can only be accepted for a single slot, however.

-If you wish to sell your splice grem, you may only do so for the price you paid for it ($100) and the parent must also be given to the new owner. You may add the price you paid for the parent IF you purchased it. (example, parent was purchased for $200 and splice was purchased for $100. you may then sell the pair for $300 total.)

-This is a test run for this service. We may be opening more slots in the future, so please do not be discouraged if you are not chosen! We simply wish to test the waters and see how it works out.

-Payment is due up-front once a service has been agreed upon. Please do not apply if you do not have the funds available. Paypal only. Points will not be accepted.

-If more than one admin accepts your application, it will be up to you to select which you would like to hire for your splicing service.

-Only 2 grems can contribute to a splice.

-Including the word "eggplant" in your application will ensure to us that you have thoroughly read the rules.
